Monster Mode is a gameplay mode in PopTag!. It can further be categorized into three subtypes: Octopus Raid, Penguin Raid, and Seal Raid. Monster Mode maps do not have their own tile sets but rather borrow from various other map themes.

General gameplay[]

Monster Mode is a cooperative mode. Up to 4 players must work together to advance through the stages and defeat the boss(es) at the final stage. The structure of each subtype is identical: Stage 1, Stage 2, and Boss. Each stage is cleared when all enemies are killed (or when the boss is killed in Boss stages). Monsters may drop Lucci when killed, and bosses drop Lucci all over the map when killed.

Types[]

Octopus Raid[]

This mode's enemies mainly consist of walking bombs, which die immediately upon contact with water balloon blasts. The Octopus King is the boss of this mode. Its strategy primarily relies on shooting water balloons across the map, creating water blast rings around itself, and running over players.

Penguin Raid[]

This mode's enemies mainly consist of fuzzy, white creatures, which become frozen upon contact with water balloon blasts. Players can kill them by touching them when they are frozen. If they are not touched after a few seconds, they will defrost and return to their normal states. The Penguin King is the boss of this mode. Its strategy primarily relies on summoning walking eggs that hatch into the aforementioned white creatures, creating water blast rings around itself, and running over players.

Seal Raid[]

This mode's enemies mainly consist of crocodiles, which become shriveled up upon contact with water balloon blasts. Players can kill them by hitting them with water balloon blasts again. If they are not killed after a few seconds, they will recover and return to their normal states. The Seal King is the boss of this mode. Its strategy primarily relies on dropping large water balloons on random parts of the map (they cover an area of 9 squares), rolling horizontally, creating water blast rings around itself, and running over players.
